Short answer: an app can read the conditions that move deer, and it cannot tell you where a buck is standing. What separates one prediction from another is whether it is about a region or about your ground, and whether anyone ever checks it.
Nearly every prediction in this category is built from the same public inputs: temperature against the seasonal normal, barometric trend, wind, cloud cover, daylight, moon position and where the rut sits on the calendar. Those inputs are real and they do correlate with movement. None of them is secret, and none of them knows your property.
So a movement score is a statement about the weather over an area, expressed as a number. That is genuinely useful for deciding whether a week looks promising. It is thin for deciding whether to burn your best stand this evening.
A regional read cannot know that your north stand is unhuntable on a south wind because of how you have to walk in. It cannot know that the food source in your bottom went cold in the second week of last season, or that the buck you care about has shown in daylight three times and every one of them was after a pressure drop.
That is not a criticism of regional models. It is a description of what they are. The information that decides a specific sit lives on the property, and most of it is history the hunter has been generating for years without keeping.
Ask any prediction tool the same question you would ask a person giving you advice: how often has it been right, and how do you know?
This is the part of the category that is mostly unanswered. Scores get published daily. Whether the score held up is rarely recorded, almost never published, and essentially never graded against rules written down in advance. A prediction with no record behind it is a confident opinion.
We think that is the thing worth fixing, so it is what RackIQ is built around, and it is the standard we would like to be held to.
RackIQ makes one Scored Call per day for a specific property: the likely move, which stand fits it, the window, the reason it is saying so, and a confidence level. It builds that from terrain, current and forecast conditions, rut phase for your location, access routes, camera evidence and the history logged on that ground, and it gets sharper as more of that history exists.
Then it records what happened. This is our first scored season. The grading rules were frozen and published before a single result existed, and the record publishes on schedule whether it flatters us or not. We do not have an accuracy figure and we will not quote one until that season is graded. Anyone telling you a number today, including us, would be telling you something they have not earned.
If that is the standard you want from a prediction, it is the one we are trying to meet.
